At the outset of the Parish Plan all of the Steering Group members were requested to list their 'Likes and Dislikes' about the village.
The listing below consolidates those responses, but is no means definitive or representing the policy of the Parish Plan..

Safe environment – low crime levels.
Good countryside walks.
Proximity to Salhouse Broad as part of Broads National Park.
Amenities within walking distance e. pub, hairdresser, post office, churches, garage, school and Jubilee Hall.

Absence of street lighting.
Linearity of Village layout, mix of housing styles and diversity of population.
Duck ponds.

Through traffic on Mill Road (North Norfolk to A47).
Poorly maintained roads.
Apathy and lack of community spirit within village.
Lack of visible police presence.
Continued in-fill building within village boundary.
Playing field not being fully utilised by all age groups.
Lack of pride in village appearance and Conservation Area status.
Lack of activities for older residents.
Lack of suitable housing eg sheltered housing for the elderly.
Creeping urbanisation, Broadland District Council’s planning policy with regard to new build.
Dog fouling, litter, mess around recycling area and vandalism.
Power of local landowners, indifferent relationship with land owner/tenants and the proliferation of white, ‘regulatory’ notices around the footpaths etc.
No real focal point within the village.
Narrow pavements.
Mill Road junction still too dangerous despite roundabout.
Poor drainage, both surface and sewerage, throughout village.

Wish list

Extension of Conservation area.
Strong Parish Council which is not afraid to address contentious issues, take a strong stand against problems in the village, and which will take the village forward through a leadership profile.
Vehicle size restrictions within village, stricter and extended speed limits and removal of bus route from Thieves Lane.
Possible by-pass of Mill Road/Bell Lane and width restriction between Salhouse and Woodbastwick to reduce rat run.
Stopping/controlling non-resident through traffic along Lower Street.
More involvement with developments at the Broad.
