                         Salhouse Parish Council                                                                                                           NEWS RELEASE

Parish Plan

Salhouse Parish Council has commenced the process of producing a Parish Plan and is currently applying for a grant from Norfolk Rural Community Council.

Currently there are 4 villagers forming a Core Steering Group working to a tight deadline to gather the requisite information for the grant application form. This will be submitted in February as funding runs out at the end of the current financial year.

Parish Plans are a Government sponsored initiative to assist rural communities and to help local people to develop their own neighbourhood in the ways they express.

This is a great opportunity for Salhouse. Every villager will have the chance to contribute. When completed the Parish Plan will provide a formal statement around which we can shape our village, and its direction, for future years. Producing the Plan will take about 18 months.

The next step is to form a Steering Group, comprising 8 to 10 people, for which we are asking for volunteers. If you feel you have the time and energy to make a contribution please contact the Parish Clerk on tel 721474 or e-mail salhousepc@btinternet.com

When the formalities of initial funding have been completed the process will involve public meetings and group discussions as well as consultation with all groups and organisations within the village to seek their ideas. This will culminate with the issue of a questionnaire to every household in the village.

Analysis of the answers to the questionnaire will form the basis of the content of the Parish Plan, and a forward-looking Action Plan, both of which will be submitted to Broadland District Council for ratification. Thereafter, the views expressed by villagers will be used in the public domain for the benefit of Salhouse village and its Conservation Area.

This is an important and key step for the village to take and we all look forward to participating with everyone for a successful result that will help to determine the future for our community.
