Salhouse Parish Plan

Parish Annual Meeting – Parish Plan Report
Presented at the Salhouse Annual Parish meeting 25th April 2007

At the last Annual Parish Meeting I was able to report that the Parish Plan process was under way and that the Inaugural Meeting had taken place the previous evening.

The past 12 months has been extremely busy. The Steering Group meets, on average, every 3 weeks; attendance has been excellent. A comprehensive, draft record of the meeting is produced within the week and is displayed in the Jubilee Hall, at the Bell Inn and on the Salhouse Village website in order to keep the village fully informed as to the work being undertaken. Progress is also reported at every Parish Council meeting. Interim reports have also been submitted to 2 other sources of funding, NRCC and BDC.

The 6 Working Groups also meet on a regular basis, as appropriate, and report their actions at the SG Mtg. Co-opted members also contribute to these WGs.

The Open Day in July was well attended and we received very favourable feedback on the information displayed, which was deliberately thought provoking, comprehensive and backed up with 180 photos.

The Questionnaire was a major task and again, was deliberately comprehensive. The response was 60% with, more importantly, over 50% returns from all but one major postcode in the village. This gave us an all important representative cross section.

The data inputting and the analysis was a major exercise and involved many long hours of work. It is still ongoing.

The WGs are in a further consultation phase, on issues arising from the analysis, predominantly with outside providers and agencies. The aim is to discuss these issues with these organisations, mainly on site, as appropriate, in order to gather first hand information and identify what resolution might be available and what process is involved.

The next Open Day, to display the answers from the Questionnaire and to highlight the comments, made by villagers, of which there were many, will be on Sat 9th June in the Jubilee Hall. Publicity for the event has already been initiated.

The summer and autumn will see the major work of drafting the Final Report and the Action Plan. It is hoped to offer the Draft to the Parish Council before Christmas. Printing and distribution of the Final Report/Action Plan will take place in the Dec- March of 2008. All households will receive a printed version of the Report. This timetable has been deliberately expanded to take account of the workloads involved in this latter stage.

Finally, members of the Steering Group also worked together with the Parish Council over 3 extra meetings in the completion of the Local Development Plan Core Strategy Questionnaire.
